Shawne Merriman, NFL star of the San Diego Chargers, was taken into custody on Sunday (September 6, 2009) after he allegedly choked and physically restrained girlfriend, Tila Tequila.
Tequila, real name, Tila Nguyen Pictures, is best known for being a bit of an online social media wizz and the star of A Shot at Love with Tila Tequila, the reality show that made it to two seasons. She signed a citizen’s arrest warrant sometime around 3:45AM last night after calling the police, accusing Merriman of battery and false imprisonment at his house.
The first thing we need to point out, is that Tila Tequila is about the size of a pea and her NFL beau is, well, bigger. Tequila is somewhere around 4 foot 11 and Merriman is somewhere around 6 foot 4.
Tequila was sent to the hospital post the alleged attack, though reports say she was not too badly hurt. She has since been released. However, the rumours of what went down are flying. The two had been at a nightclub earlier in the night and Tequila was allegedly intoxicated (though her fans will know she insists she never drinks). It was not clear if Merriman had been drinking.
